2011 King Of The Broad - Oulton Broad
The JC Racing Teams five year reign of the King of the Broad trophy came to an end on an exciting night of club racing at Oulton Broad. However team driver Julian Codling still managed to break the 250cc lap record again, lowering the time to an impressive 38.24 seconds.

With the weather perfect for hydroplane racing at the Lowestoft and Oulton Broad Circuit for the group handicap event, it always looked like it would be a battle between the clubs two international 250cc drivers, JC Racing’s Julian Codling and Team Turners Wayne Turner, to decide who would be crowned King of the Broads 2011.
The group handicap event meant the 250cc outfits of Codling and Turner started the race followed by the cluster of 400cc Yamato outfits, and then the classic 500cc Konig powered hydroplane outfits of David Jones (Area 31 racing Team) and Peter Rix.
Race 1
JC Racing driver Julian Codling got the handicap timing spot on and powered away from Wayne Turner who was back on form after recent engine problems to take the first race win and in doing so breaking the 250cc lap record.
Wayne took second place, with the classically restored 500cc Konig powered Popoli of David Jones and the Area 31 Racing Team picking its way through the field to take third place.
Race 2
Race two saw Wayne Turner get the jump on Julian as they headed towards the first turn Buoy. With a tight Oulton Broad course and some impressive driving from Wayne, JC Racing driver Julian was unable to catch or overtake Wayne who took the second heat win, with Julian second and David Jones again bringing the classic 500cc outfit home in third place.
Race 3
It meant the King of the Broad Title would go down to the final race and a very unusual late start by the JC Racing team meant Wayne Turner powered into an early lead of which he would never lose despite Julian’s best efforts and impressively consistent quick lap times in trying to catch Wayne.
Finishing second in the final heat meant Julian and the JC Racing Team had to settle for second place overall behind the new prestigious King of the Broad Trophy Winner Wayne Turner, with David Jones finishing third overall on a good night of hydroplane racing.
