European Championship F-250: Round 4 - Boretto, Italy

The JC Racing team finished their debut international powerboat racing season with a second place finish at the final round of the European Formula 250 Series in Boretto, Italy. The result gave the team third place in the overall european series.

European Formula 250 Start - Boretto, Italy

JC Racing team driver Julian Codling went into the final round of the championship in third position, with Italy's Salvatore Chiuri in second with a ten point buffer on him and Sweden's Christoffer Soderstedt just five points behind in fourth place.

Time Trials

The team knew they had to be on top form to be on the podium come the end of the series and was a little disappointed with qualifying managing sixth place behind the ever impressive Rene Behncke (GER), Salvatore Chiuri (ITA), Francesco Marsala (ITA), Luca Bonassina (ITA) and Christoffer Soderstedt (SWE). The field was completed with Stefan Probst (GER) and Andreas Otto (AUT)

Race 1

As the lights went out the eight 250cc engines burst into life and it was a lightning start for the JC Racing team driver Julian Codling as he powered away from the jetty soon finding himself moving from sixth to second place, a position he was able to hold until the end of the race.

Once again the race win went to Rene Behncke, which virtually guaranteed the European Formula 250 title would be heading back to Germany with the Demmler team for a second year running. Third place went to the quick young Swedish driver Christoffer Soderstedt.

Race 2

The second race saw team driver Julian get another tidy start from second on the grid but this time he was not quite able to hold on to second place as Salvatore Chiuri (ITA) was back on full throttle as he took second place behind Rene Behncke (GER) with Julian finishing in third place for the JC Racing team.

Race 3

The third race was a replica of the second with Rene Behncke (GER) motoring past the chequered flag first with Salvatore Chiuri (ITA) trying everything possible to catch him finishing in second. Julian finished third ahead of Christoffer Soderstedt (SWE), which meant it guaranteed the JC Racing team the bronze medal in the series.

Race 4

With a maximum three wins from three races Rene Behncke (GER) sat out the final race. As they raced away from the start it was Luca Bonassina (ITA) who made a fantastic start and powered through the field to take the chequered flag, with Julian finishing second and Christoffer Soderstedt (SWE) bringing his 250cc outfit home in third.

Overall Results, Boretto - Italy

With two second and a third place finishes being Julian's best results from the four races, meant the JC Racing team finished the meeting in second place on the podium behind Rene Behncke (GER) and ahead of Salvatore Chiuri (ITA) in third.

Reflecting on his first international season, JC Racing team driver Julian Codling was extremely happy finishing on the podium in third place.

Formula 250 Series Podium - Rene Behncke, Salvatore Chiuri & Julian Codling

The team would like to thank everyone who helped out the team during the season, the organisers of each round of the championship and the other teams who made them feel welcome during their first season of international racing. The team also hopes to be competing again on the international scene in 2011.
